Polar White Nintendo DS Lite Unboxing

May 27th, 2009 by Sean

Below is a video of the new Polar White Nintendo DS Lite I received today. I didn’t do the typical unboxing video with me talking and having issues with the box, etc.

Instead I took pictures of the process, added in some cool visual effects and me playing acoustic guitar over the video. FYI the music was pre-recorded and not played while I was taking pictures :)

So the moral of the story? I’m starting to get into making my own videos to post on Modern Classic Gaming. Cool, eh?

Keep your eyes out for more videos coming soon. If you have video requests, please comment below and I’ll see what I can do… and now to go play with my brand spanking new Polar White Nintendo DS Lite…

Colors on the Nintendo DS and DS Lite

May 25th, 2009 by Sean

Christian Pearce, illustrator extraordinaire, sees no limits when it comes to his hot rod art, proving that even the touchscreen-enabled Nintendo DS and the homebrew app, Colors can be a deadly combo for imaginative creation:

Christian Pearce isn’t just some random illustrator with a knack for unusual media. The New Zealand-based man has amazing talent as proven by his employment at Peter Jackson’s Weta Workshop, creating the dinosaurs for the most recent King Kong movie.

Weta might sounds familiar to some of you as this is the same production studio that brought us the real-life Warthog, the gun-turret-wielding off-road beast from the popular XBOX franchise, Halo.

Colors! for Nintendo DS requires a homebrew enabled Nintendo DS or Nintendo DS Lite. Download Colors.

Watch A Nintendo DSi Tear Itself Apart

April 16th, 2009 by Sean

Thanks to the wonders of stop-motion, watch in awe as this Nintendo DSi proceeds to tear itself to pieces:

Man, being able to see Nintendo’s new hand-held game machine inside and out in just over 2 minutes – priceless.

Special thanks to my friend Luke who also writes on Modern Classic Gaming for the tip.

Apparently the game will be available later this year for the Nintendo DS, DS Lite and DSi. I so want this game.

Nintendo DS: Space Invaders Extreme

March 25th, 2009 by Luke C.

We all know Space Invaders, right? A bunch of monochromatic aliens form ranks and march slowly down the screen towards you while you fire a small peashooter upwards at them, hoping you can destroy the last one before it obliterates your shields and crushes you.

Space Invaders Extreme

Space Invaders Extreme uses a greatly sped-up version of the same basic formula. The sound design, while still hearkening back to the original game’s bleeps and bloops, now incorporates all sound effects into a techno soundtrack. Each shot and explosion is now a beat in the music, helping the player get into a Zen state for blasting evil aliens. Playing with the volume on isn’t as vital in this game as it is in, say, Elite Beat Agents, but you’re definitely missing out if you mute your DS. Read the rest of this entry…
