February 13th, 2009 by Sean

As expected, this morning I received my copy of “Sonic’s Ultimate Genesis Collection” for my Xbox 360. Here are a few pictures:

As mentioned in my post the other day, I’ll be pretty busy doing some Retro Gaming this weekend.

Even though it’s Valentine’s weekend, my wife loves the Sonic games, so this will be a win-win for both of us :)

Giant SNES Controller

January 25th, 2009 by Mik H.

From the makers of the giant Atari Joystick and NES Controller comes… the ginormous SNES Bone controller (for those with big hands), go ahead play some Chrono Trigger, better yet ActRaiser.

Giant Super Nintendo Controller

This thing is rad, but is it functional? Uh, well that’s debatable, however it’s really cool and worthy of a mention here on Modern Classic Gaming.

Just imagine playing a few rounds of Super Punch Out with this controller. You could totally punch the buttons. Knock out! Read the rest of this entry…

Super Mario & Legend of Zelda Comforter

January 21st, 2009 by Mik H.

This is my awesome Mario and Zelda Comforter. I’ve had this thing since it came out back in the late 1980′s:

I love it because it’s so soft, and warm. I think it adds to my gaming geek prowess… and now to go play some Super Mario Bros…

Giant NES Controller Coffee Table

January 2nd, 2009 by Sean

The other day I posted about the giant Atari 2600 controller and now I present to you a giant working NES controller that also doubles as a coffee table:

Here’s a picture of this classic Nintendo controller with the glass top on it:

For just a little more of retro gaming win, take a look at the video of the controller actually working while playing Super Mario Bros. 3:

This piece of classic gaming history was created by Kyle Downes, a 21 year old motion graphics designer from Melbourne, Australia.

Encase you want to find out more and see how Kyle created this 8-bit classic Nintendo controller, visit his blog post on how he made it.

I’ve been talking with my friend Mikalae who is also really into classic gaming like me, and we’ve decided to build our own NES controller too.

Once our 8-bit NES controller project starts, I’ll be sure to document the entire thing just like Kyle did. This is going to be awesome!

Super Sized Classic Atari 2600 Joystick

January 1st, 2009 by Sean

The “Super Stick” it is an oversized Atari 2600 controller that measures 5 feet tall, approximately 15 times larger than an original joystick:

It was made for the 2005 I Am 8-Bit museum exhibit 1988 grand opening in Los Angeles, California. Apparently it works too. I want one… hehe.

According to my friend Jason (thanks for the photo), people who attended the opening of this exhibit were allowed to jump on it and play a few games.

Too bad I wasn’t able to attend the opening of this exhibit. I would have loved to play some Pitfall or maybe a few rounds of Atlantis with this joystick.

Speaking of classic Atari games, why not play a couple rounds of Asteroids in our free classic game room where the game is never over.

Pac Man Christmas Tree Ornament

December 25th, 2008 by Sean

My wife knows that I love Pac-Man. We even have a full-sized coin-op version that’s completely restored to it’s former 1980′s glory.

Well this year for Christmas, my wonderful wife got me a retro Pac Man Christmas tree ornament. Here it is hanging on the tree:

PacMan Christmas Ornament

This little arcade classic measures 4 1/4″ high. Something else to note, it even lights up and plays official Pac-Man sounds too. I love it!

Encase you have a Pac-Man lover in your home or office, you can pick up a Pac Man Christmas tree ornament just like mine from your local Hallmark:

Hallmark PacMan Christmas Ornament

It’s only $18.50 USD and it comes with batteries too, so it’s ready to hang on your tree and relive some vintage Pac-Man glory… Waka Waka.

What’s really awesome about this mini Pac-Man arcade game, when Christmas is over, you can stand it up on your desk and still enjoy it’s coolness.

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays from our family here at Modern Classic Gaming to yours. We hope your day is filled with lots of classic gaming magic.

Space Invaders USB Roll Up Keyboard

November 7th, 2008 by Sean

Bring some life to your desktop with this ultra cool, retro, fully flexible, Space Invaders silicone keyboard for your Windows PC or Apple Mac:

Space Invaders Roll Up Keyboard

The QWERTY keyboard has all the letters and numbers you would expect, but each letter and number is set inside the shape of a Space Invader for that retro cool look and feel.

Apart from its obvious advantages of being fully cake, coffee and generally spill proof, the Space Invaders Roll Up Keyboard board is ultra quiet.

As an added bonus, you can wipe it clean with a damp cloth, so it’s a lot more hygienic and easy to clean than those clunky desktop keyboards.

While we’re talking about Space Invaders, don’t forget to play our version of Space Invaders in our free Modern Classic Gaming online arcade.

If you’re interested in getting this keyboard, you can buy one for around $31.65 USD by visiting the official Space Invaders roll up keyboard product page.
