NES – Adventures Of Lolo

January 6, 2009 - 8:04 am - Posted by Sean

This charming little NES game titled Adventures Of Lolo challenges you to solve increasingly complex puzzles in a series of castle rooms.

Adventures Of Lolo

In this classic game developed by HAL Laboratory, you control Lolo, a cute little blue ball with two big eyes.

Each screen-sized stage requires quick reflexes and thoughtful strategy as you slide blocks, avoid monsters, and use power-ups to open the single chest in each room.

You can the view the layout of each room before each stage, and you’ll want to use this opportunity to formulate your strategy.

To solve most puzzles, you’ll need to perform a series of moves in a specific order, and if you mess up, you might not be able to correct your mistake.

At that point you’re forced to hit “Select” to forfeit play and restart the stage.

Upon depleting all your lives, a password is provided, and you can immediately continue where you left off. Nice feature indeed.

It’s easy to get caught up in Lolo’s addictive gameplay. Some of the puzzles are quite ingenious, and the graphics aren’t bad either.

The game controls are crisp and really responsive, and the heroic musical score is also very good.

Adventures Of Lolo’s innovative gameplay has earned legions of loyal fans and prompted two sequels.

Adventures of Lolo sure is a fun game that’s challenging but still fun at the same time. I’ll never get tired of this great series. If you like Lolo, be sure to pick up Lolo 2 and Lolo 3 for your NES collection.

  2. Stacy says:

I love this game! Lolo is a really solid game that will definitely provide some serious fun and enjoyment, especially if you like puzzle type games with a little hint of Legend of Zelda.

  3. Luke C. says:

Lolo and his partner went on to be recurring minibosses in the Kirby series, but I’m sure you knew that already.

  4. Pwn Greenland says:

Can’t say I remember this title from the halycon days of the NES although I did have a bunch of infuriating puzzle games from back in the day. One of them was Kickle Cubicle which lulled you into a false sense of security and then tortured you with increasingly difficult puzzles.

    I hated that game.

  5. Sean R. says:

@Luke: I completely forgot about Lolo being in Kirby’s Adventure. Thanks for the reminder on that.

@Pwn Greenland: Lolo is awesome. You should defiantly give it a try. As for Kickle Cubicle, it’s also a really fun classic NES game.
