Below is a video from E3 2009 showing the world premiere announcement and demonstration of the new Nintendo Wii game, “New Super Mario Bros Wii”:
The actual gameplay demonstration starts around 1:45 in the video.
What I’m really excited about in this game is the ability for up to 4 players to cooperatively play together in a classic Super Mario Bros setting.
We can expect the “New Super Mario Bros Wii” game to be launched in Christmas 2009. I’ll be pre-ordering for sure.
Oooh, multiplayer gameplay, big deal. Did you not see the trailer for Metroid: Other M?
TEAM NINJA METROID
How is that not the most exciting thing shown at E3?
@Luke: For a Super Mario Bros platformer to have multiplayer is exciting (to me at least).
Yes I did see the trailer for Metroid: Other M, and that too looks really cool and now on my want/wish list.
I’m happy to see that game developers are learning how to make use of what the Wii has under the hood. Granted it’s doesn’t compare to the 360 but I strongly feel the Wii is a pretty well rounded consumer console.
In general it looks like mid to late 2009 and early 2010 is going to be really good for new games.
The original Mario Bros. was a multiplayer platform game, wasn’t it?
No kidding about the coming year looking pretty awesome, though. Now if only I can get a job by then so I can afford some of them. And if only Trico wasn’t a PS3 exclusive…
@Luke: The original Mario Bros was technically a multiplayer… but I’m more excited about a Super Mario Bros game having it. I’ll have to do a review on the original NES Mario Bros and compare it to Super Mario Bros now
As for affording games in the coming year, you might just get a few of them for free since MCG has some good vendor / promotional deals in the works for a few free copies of upcoming games. I’ll contact you off site with more details since I’m not allowed to fully go public with it yet.
